As the our title suggests, it’s a journey. It is a journey into an Italian Town. A unique bond between a young boy, Toto and his ‘friend’ Alfredo, who works as a movie projectionist in a town theater. Our purpose as usual is not to describe the whole story here but make you realize that it’s a movie worth watching.

We could go on listing its accolades :

Best Foreign Language Film – Oscars / Golden Globes / BAFTA

And probably every other awards held that year.

With the IMDB link could check how highly rated it is, of course.

Its tagline : A celebration of youth, friendship, and the everlasting magic of the movies, really gives the true essence of what the movie is all about.

Cinema Paradiso is sometimes known to be “the fountain of youth” for a dying Italian movie Industry. When it initially released with a runtime of 155 minutes, it was a huge flop ( which seems to be something common with a lot of old classics) which forced the director to edit the ending and turn it into 124 minutes. Which personally, we feel was fortunate as the ending of 124 minutes reel, seem more crisp instead of a little dragged on original ending . There’s also a third 170 minutes director’s cut which has the original ending with some extra scenes. Both the endings are good but the shorter one seems to be our favorite.

The Flashback, the famous kissing scenes, the shouting audience , the romance , the innocence of a kid, all these merge together to form this wonderful journey making this movie A CLASSIC.
